The Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (日本語能力試験, Nihongo Nōryoku Shiken), or JLPT, is a standardized test used to assess and certify Japanese proficiency for non-native speakers, including language knowledge, reading ability, and listening comprehension. The JLPT is administered by the Japan Foundation for tests conducted overseas and by the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services for tests conducted in Japan.
