Office files like .docx (Word), .xlsx (Excel), .pptx (PowerPoint) ending with “x” are all compressed XML files. You can change their extension to .zip and extract to retrieve high-quality images.
I have prepared a file named “file-sample_1MB.zip”; this is a copy of the file “file-sample_1MB.docx” and I have changed .docx to .zip.
Open the file “file-sample_1MB.zip” with WinRAR.
Continuing further into the ‘word’ directory, you will discover something interesting.
- The “media” folder contains images and videos.
- The “charts” folder contains charts.
- The file “document.xml” contains the text content.
The remaining files such as style.xml, settings.xml, numbering.xml, fontTable.xml, you can explore them further on your own! In fact, their roles are already clearly indicated in their file names.
Above is an example of using a .docx file; you can also do similar things with .xlsx and .pptx files.
